Dear Nancy,
I want you to know how deeply I appreciate your warm words
of support and good wishes. They mean a great deal to me as I
enter on this new and challenging responsibility. In the short
time I have been here, I have found extraordinarily talented
and dedicated men and women doing an incredibly difficult job
for our country. I feel privileged to join hands with them.
I was saddened to hear that your daughter, Linda: has 'Lost
'; er sight. I have SPPn t : W--1- ? Pre at , G Agency. She is a
very taietlLd U young woman.
Linda's photographs are hung in employee lounges throughout
the building. These areas have been brightened considerably by
Linda's works. As lovely as they are, however, I am told that
they are not suitable for use throughout the Agency because
they are actual photographs, as opposed to lithographs, that
will fade when exposed to sunlight. The employees lounges,
which are windowless, are an ideal spot for Linda's photographs.
Although presently there is no space at headquarters
suitable for Linda's photographs, the Agency is scheduled to
open a new building in January 1988. If the new building has
suitable space, her work will get every consideration.
Government agencies might be more interested in Linda's
photographs if they were printed as lithographs. This would
solve the fading problem and al-bo lower the cost of each print
considerably, I am told. The following companies offer
photographs printed as lithographs for sale to Government
agencies:

Congratulations on becoming the head of the Central Intelligence
Agency. Dolph and I are happy for you, and we feel most fortunate
to have you in this position for our Country. We also think you
did a terrific job as head of FBI.
I am writing to send you a letter written by my daughter, Linda
Montgomery, and a brochure of her photography.
I do not know if you are aware that Linda was a photographer with
her own company, Divine Designs, for many years until she lost her
sight, due to her diabetes, three years ago. Now since her success-
ful kidney transplant last January at Georgetown Hospital, she is
marketing her tapes and her photography.
I also wonder if you know that Linda's last big order of her framed
photographs was for the offices of the CIA in Washington. Now,
knowing the work and who the artist is perhaps the CIA would be
interested in more of Linda's work, and perhaps you know of others
who might be interested.
If you have an interest, please call or write Linda at the address
below. I know she would be thrilled to hear from you, and I know
you would love her work.
Dolph, Chris, our 17 year old son, and I are loving our summer farm
here in Cherry Valley, N. Y. with the temp in the 70's and 80's
while it is 1000 in St. Louis. Hope to see you in St. Louis some-
time. Have a good summer.

Dear Friends,
Many of you know me as Nancy Orthwein's daughter,
Linda, and perhaps you also know of a recent miracle in my
life; a kidney transplant which has given me new energy,
vitality and a sustained willingness to do God's work.
The past three years have been especially challenging
for me. The gradual loss of my outer vision has enabled me
to find a new source of inner strength. Although the ex-
perience was somewhat frightening, it was interspersed with
insights and understandings of my spiritual journey and the
opportunity for expanded awareness.
Luring this period of adjustment and perseverence, I
have recorded many of my experiences on tape which will
eventually appear as a book titled Beyond Darkness, Into
Llg}Zt.
Over the past two years, I have also been asked to give
several talks to local church groups on the topic of
healing. Two of these talks are now available on tape. The
firs` is titled, "Prayer - An Opining of the Heart", and the
second is titled, "Learning to Choose Between the Ego and
the Holy Spirit". The cost per tape is $6.50, plus $2.00
foc postage and handling. If you are interested, please
send a check payable to me along with a listing of the
desired tape or tapes you would like.
I would appreciate knowing of your experience with the
tapes and any. suggestions you might have as to future
tOpiC3.
