DESCRIPTION OF MATERIAL
1. In Tallinn on the Freedom Square beside the EEKS-MAJA and the House
of Arts is built another House of Arts. As you see in the picture, this
is a typical product of eastern style and it does not fit in with the other
buildings. The picture is published in the "Suomen Kuvalehti" (Finnish
Picture Magazine) where a two page picture story of the Tallinn of to-day
appeared.
2. The picture shows Harju Street in Tallinn as it appeared in "Suomen
Kuvalehti." The picture was taken from about that place where the Hotel
"Kuld Lovi" formerly was situated. As we can see Tallinn is rebuilt only
by removing the ruins and growing lawns. In the background we see the
tower of the City Hall. On the corner of Niguliste and Kullasepa Streets
the big house still stands. Also this house where formerly the photo-
studio Parikas was located is there.
3. The Red-Russians have given a new appearance to the Tower Square. One
of our beautiful places has become ugly because of the monument which shows
Kalinin who once, during tsarist time, worked in Tallinn.
