MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Briefing for House Staffers on Angola
1. On 25 July 1986, staffers for a variety of committees
in the House of Representatives were briefed on the military
situation in Angola. The briefing was held in H-139, the
Capitol, and was conducted at the Top Secret level. The
meeting room was wept prior to the briefing. No transcript
was kept.
2. A list of attending staff members is attached. The

as the disposition of the various military forces in Angola,
prospects for an offensive this year, external support for each
side in the conflict, the extent of Soviet and Cuban presence
