It is my pleasure to congratulate you on your retirement; you
will be missed. Throughout your 17 years with Panama Bureau, you
managed to combine the skills of expert monitoring and translation
with an excellent ability to get along with people. You have served
admirably as both a monitor and a supervisor and thus have had a
substantial role in Panama Bureau's development from a small regional
bureau to one of FBIS' largest and most technically sophisticated
facilities.
You will be remembered for many things. As a supervisor you
provided valuable guidance to most of the bureau's monitors as well as
to many editors who have had the good fortune to work with you during
PCS and/or training TDY tours. Your easygoing manner and friendliness
always made it easy for people to ask you questions. Furthermore,
your "cultural" tours of both daytime and nighttime Panama have become
somewhat of a legend over the years and will certainly keep you in the
thoughts of FBIS personnel for years to come.
On behalf of FBIS, particularly the Panama Bureau staff, and on
my own behalf, I wish you a happy and productive retirement.
