Declassified and Approved For Release @50-Yr 2013/12/16: CIA-RDP81-00706R000100070096-9 WAR DEPARTMENT MILITARY INTELLIGENCE DIVISION G-2 WASHINGTON 1r1" INTRA-OFFICE MEMORANDUM FOR USE WITHIN G-2 MID ONLY GROUP. UNIT. BRANCH OR SECTION ORIGIN D/Int ORIGINATING OFFICER. INITIALS AND TELEPHONE CFM/2974 Pacific MIRS SUBJECT: FILE NO. AND DATE IF PERTINENT. FROM TO EA. LISTED DATE COMMENTS (TYPE, PENCIL OR INK) Chief, MIS A Col SIG-2 23 Sept 44 1.04?11011,vpir. 1. There is attached a letter for the signature of the A C of S, 0-2, addressed to the Director of Naval Intelligence, sub- ject Pacific MIRS. 2. It should be noted that the Navy is being aslred for 25 Japanese language special- ists of which 17 would, in the normal course be requested as their contribution for the exploitation of documents pertaining to Japa- nese aviation. This would leave but 8 for th exploitation of documents pertaining to the floating Navy and g eneral sub je c ts . 3. Although this is a relatively small number, it is felt best first to obtain the full cooperation of the Navy in principle, and later adjust the strength according to the results obtained from the exploitation of the documents. See attached two memoranda to Admiral Schuirmann. One requests five (4) officers and twelve (12) enlisted men for air document work. This is the same number that we are requesting from the Air Ministry and the Army Air Forces. retariat Wag*: 2. The second memorandum which requests Admiral Schuirmannts participation in a Joint Army-Navy document research organization at Camp Ritchie. If Admiral Schuirmann takes avorable . action on this, we will be able to simplify our requests to him for transmission of captured Japanese documents to include all documents cap- tured in Naval Theaters instead of onlir those ap- plying to the Army and Air material. 3. Fending his action on the two proposals it seems inappropriate to request the forwarding of documents since we already have on hand a ? very considerable qualtity which will keep us busy for some time. // , CLA ON BISSELL Maiir General ?
