1. "Considerable efforts have.been made since the start of 1953 to increase oil pro-
duction in the Grozny and cop areas.

2'., "The former delegate of the Ministry of Oil Ind~?stry, (fnu) Kazlaev, was dismissed
from his post as chief manager of the oil fields there, on charges of personnel
purges which caused the transfer of the most skilled and efficient experts to less
important oil fields in Siberia. He was replaced by a new delegate of the same
Minis try, (fnu) Kalarf}sarov.--~
3. "Under Kalamkarov's direction the new Soviet and German oil specialists, who ar-
rived from Moscow in 1953, are engaged in drilling new wells and deepening the ex-
isting ones in order to increase production to the utmost. These experts include
the following engineers: (fnu) A ryatkin, (fnu; Palichkov, (fnu) Salin, (fnu) Singer
and (fnu) Iflein. "~'"' T- --
!. "In March 1953 new machines for deep drilling and pumps for pumping oil from the
deepest wells were shipped to this area from factories in Tbilisi and Rustavi.
5. "Crude oil which up to March 1953 was stored in large cisterns, has been shipped
away by rail and road transport since April. About four or five trains with oil
tank cars are dispatched every night to the port of Astrakhans=.
