Petroleos Mexicanos has reported the discovery, on 13 Apr 53, of a new well, a gasser, in the tract known as Santa Agueda, Papantla, Veracruz, Mexico, which can be located on the 1:50,000 scale Mexican Gulf map. This well, laying to the northwest of the Ordone Field, quite likely represents another structural high on the Golden Lane projection; hence it should be considered as significant. The depth of this well was given as 1.80 meters (4855') 2. It has been reported that the discovery of these new producing areas along the trend of the old Golden Lane is of tremendous importance to Petroleos Mexicanos; perhaps of more importance is that the discoveries come at a time when there isevery indication of the falling off in the production of the major Mexican field of Poza Rica; furthermore, these discoveries though believed to be structurally independent of Poza Rica, are in the same geo- graphical area and with only minor installations can be served by the same pipeline system, and therefore be put into production with a minimum of delay and expense.
