HANDLE VIA BYEMAN CONTROL SYSTEM ONLY 30 April 1965 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Conversation with Mr. McGeorge Bundy on the NRO, 30 April 1965 I called Mr. Bundy to ask whether he was aware of any recommendations to the President concerning the NRO other than the PFIAB report of May 1964. I told him that during the course of a conversation with Mr. McCone and Admiral Raborn on Tuesday, 27 April, the Secretary of Defense had referred to recent recommendations on the subject of the NRO which required a response. Mr. Bundy said that no such recommendations had been submitted. Mr. Bundy said that the May 1964 PFIAB report was the only recommendation on the subject, although there had been one or two oral discussions. I asked him whether this meant any fixed position on the subject had been developed and whether there was a clear field for recommendations. He said that there was was indeed a clear field, but that it badly needed plowing. %s% A. Bross JOHN A. BROSS D/DCI/NIPE Distribution: l - DCI 2 - DDCI 3 - DD/ S& T . 4 .
