THE TECHNICAL INTELLIGENCE DIVISION
MONTHLY REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 1964
1. During the month of February 1964 the Technical Intelligence
Division (CB, TAB, TSB) received a total of 96 new projects, a drop from
119 received last month. The Division completed 92 projects as compared
to 98 in January. To date the Division has received a total of 215
projects, while completing 190. Of interest to note this month is the
increase in support projects completed: 30 during the month of January,
to 50 in February. It will be noted from the "Projects Completed" graph
that this month there was a considerable drop in national projects com-
pleted. This was due primarily to a drop-off of projects received during
the month and also to the improvement in liaison between TID/PAG and TID/
PID. The establishment of this close working liaison has resulted in
improved timing for the submission of projects, the establishment of more
realistic completion dates and project requirements. The drop-off does
not signify that TID worked on departmental projects to the detriment of
national projects. Three other conditions that each month will influence
projects completed, particularly TAB, are the size of the work effort
required, the complexity of the work required to obtain the answers and
input of new missions requiring immediate processing.
2. Because the projects worked by the Computer Branch are consider-
ably different from those worked in TAB and TSB, the Computer Branch
project figures will be reported separately throughout the remainder of
this report. During this month the Univac 490 logged 35 hours production
time, 160 hours assembly and debug time and 14 hours other time. Addi-
tionally, during the month the Real Time program was availablefor use 25
hours concurrently with the assembly and debug time.

In addition, TID has in preparation three publications describing new
collection systems soon to become operational.
b. TSB plotted 70,738 frames of photography divided
by type as follows:
KH-4 - 11,295
T - 59,443
c. During the month TID sent 10 people to the processing
activity to assist in processing three missions for a total of
10 working days.
4. Operating Equipment
TAB employed 492 hours instrument time on projects related to
measurements and processing incoming missions (over 100 hours higher than
in January 1964). TSB logged 80 hours instrument time in work related to
film evaluation and product assessment (107 hours last month).
5. Visitors and Meetings
TID accommodated 23 visitors during the month of February. The
Division hosted eight meetings related to operations and incoming missions
and five other meetings on related technical subjects. TID personnel
participated in three meetings outside NPIC, including one in California
attended by Chief, CB. TID also participated in several meetings within
N.e1C. Chief, TAB went to New York to interview a senior grade prospective
employee.
6. Training
On 10 February 1964 the two Photogrammetry classes resumed.
7. Project Report Summary and Graphs
The attached table is based on assigned project work: national
projects and support projects. The attached graphs are direct feed-offs
from this summary table. The largest portion of TID overtime this month
is directly related to two new inputs, received in rapid succession, the
preparation for a third input that was not completely successful, and the
weekend work on GOLDEN TREE. TID must work overtime during these peak
periods of input in order to accomplish the required work on or close to
schedule.
