LIAISON Called Len Weiss, 25X1 Staff Director, Senate Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Energy, Nuclear Proliferation and Federal Services, and agreed to 15 November at 10:30 a.m. for a briefing by John Depres, NIO/Nuclear Proliferation/NFAC, on the South Korean nuclear weapons program. Weiss' interest was spurred by the report of the House International Relations Subcommittee on Inter- national Organizations entitled "Investigation of Korean- American Relations." 9, LIAISON Called Mike Epstein, Senate Select Committee on ntelligence staff, and set the meeting for him, Hal Ford and Catherine Essoyan, also of the Committee staff, with DDO, regarding human rights reporting, for 16 November at 10:30 a.m. Epstein also said his parents would be in town next week and asked if the Agency ever decided to offer tours of the building to the public. I said we had decided against it but occasionally special groups were given tours. I agreed to see if any groups would be touring the building next week and whether Mr. and Mrs. Epstein could join them. 25X1 25X1 10. LIAISON Received a call from 25X1 David Shaw, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who said he.,had arranged a briefing for Senator Richard Lugar (R., Ind.) for 14 November at 2:30 p.m. in the SeT777TT'VTTIce. both of ORPA/NFAC, will brief the Senator on Saudi Arabia, Iran, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, which 25X1 the Senator will be visiting. 11. LIAISON Called Polly Ragon, Appointments Secretary for Senator Dale Bumpers (D., Ark.), and confirmed the appointment for Jim Lilley, NIO/China/NFAC, to brief the Senator on China on 14 November at 11:00 a.m. The appointment had been suggested by Mike Oksenberg, NSC Staff, and set up directly with Jim Lilley. ? 12. LIAISON Received a call from Ted Ralston, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who asked for a historical briefing by NPIC, on ICBM deployment in the 1970 to 1975 time frame. Ralston hoped this could be arranged for Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
