FOREWORD
It is the object of this report to present supplementary information
gathered from a recently captured "Saberu" agent radio. This set,
although fundamentally identical to set Model I discussed in the previous
report (SEOU 53-050), has certain slight changes as can be noted from
the attached photos and schematic diagram.
Also of interest is the fact that this set was in"factory new"
condition and to have been brought into North
Korea from the Soviet Union Inst.prior to his launching. This claim
may or may not be true, however as can be,seen by a comparison of chassis
numbers it is the newest Of Its type to have turned up in this area.

Switch SW8 was aCtually present on the earlier sets although not
shown on the previous schematic diagram. This switch, which is normally
closed (VFO operation), is caused to open when a crystal is inserted in
the crystal jack.
The marking of individual circuit components has made possible.the
inclusion of these parts values on the revised schematic.
CIRCUIT COMPONENTS:
Resistors in the previously reported sets were similar to the U.S.
watt carbon type and had a form of body-end-band color coding system.
In the newest set, resistors were of the European style having sheet metal
end caps with narrow strips of sheet metal for leads. Values were printed
directly on the components.
All fixed non-electrolytic capacitors were of the molded "postage stamp"
variety. Trimming capacitors were of the ceramic type.
ANTENNA:
The antenna arrangement shown in Fig.8 was the type described by
the agent and is only a modification of the type previously reported.
POWER SUPPLY:
The batteries shown in the photos are of North Korean manufacture
and were picked up with the latest set. Due to their poor quality four
80/60 volt batteries were suppoied, giving the set higher/ than normal
no-load W voltages (310V-300V-160V), so that when load was appoied the
voltages would drop to approximately the specified values (240V-180V-120V)
The 3 volt "All supply was made up of four 1 volt cells connected
in series-parallel.
MISOILLANIOUS:
DATA BOOK: Figures 3 thru 6 are photos of the data book normally
supplied with each "Saberu" radio. Page 1 contains information
on the length and jack placement of the antenna for various frequencies.
Page 2 is the individually calibrated receiver tuning chart. Pages 3
and 4 are the individually calibrated transmitter tuning charts. The
figures on the back cover are scribbled notes indicating the wavelength
of the two crystals included with this particular set.
