1. Writer Pforzheimer of I)I Historic Intelligence Collection (1H-u.24, STAT
Headquarters, celled regarding the public response to the New York
Times news item 22 1967 re; Freedom of Information).
2. He said that since the news item the Agency was receiving as many as
15 letters per day requesting information from the Agency records.
3. For example he has had referred to him from the public Affairs Staff
(Mr. Goodwin, M4, Headquarters, Assistant to the fol nsaxt Director) requests
for files as
4. Mr. Pforzheimer ".id that he was becoming increasingly concerned
about thin problem. He saw indications from the types of questions being
asked that the basis for the questions were related to information in the
Presidential Libraries. He wondered whether the Libraries personnel realized
this is Classified. Information. I assured him that Mr. Kahn at National
Archives was very explicit about the clearances and reliability of people in
the libraries.

5. Mr. Pforzheimer then related an incident he encountered in the
Public sale of President Roosevelt's stamps some years ago wherein the sale
included a copy of an 058 memo from General Donovan to President Roosevelt
(5 October 1944). This, I said, indicated there where other sources for
these Presidential. "leaks".
6. We concluded our chat with a plan to wait a few more weeks to see
