1. MERCURY Program:
a.
The MERCURY Program Office was pleased to welcome
of OIT/GOG/U.S. Networks to the MERCURY team.
Gary has been tasked by OIT to work with MPO to learn the details
of MERCURY, and particularly the specifics of the Tech Control
aspects of the Packet Switch System. Both OIT and MPO believe
this exposure will greatly facilitate the integration of the
MERCURY Packet Switch System into OIT operations during the
first and second quarters of FY-87.
b. Excellent progress with the first phase of
testing of the MERCURY Packet Switch
was made during the past week. Establishment of
the four-node test network with KG-84s in place over the inter-
nodal backbones was successful. Also, full-duplex links have
been established via the packet network with Data Sentry-10
data test sets running at various speeds.

approximately 200 network drawings has been submitted by FND.
The Graphics Arts Branch has begun on the first 72 drawings
submitted with the rest to follow. Estimated time required
is 200 man-hours.

to build two prototype Type transportable communi-
cations systems. The integration effort is scheduled to take
24 weeks and the major communications equipment will be furnished
by the Government. Sole source award of a contract is anticipated
before the end of the fiscal year.
