Request for a New UPID Identifier for the
Special Center

1. This memorandum requests that a new User Program ID
(UPID) be created in the Cable Dissemination System to deliver
cables to the Special Computer Center. This UPID will be used
with the SAFE Delivery 3.1 system which is scheduled to begin
collecting DO cables in January 1988. Installation of a dedicated
line from the Message Handling Facility to the Special Center by
the fourth quarter of CY87 has been requested to accommodate this
traffic.
2. Through preliminary meetings with your staff, it was
determined that the UPID identifier should be 'H'. A
non-printable Office Unit Symbol of DOMDS should be placed in the
dissemination area of the cable for identification. All DO
addressed cables that are now sent to the Special Center with an
identifier of UPID 'D', except DO Contact Reports, should be
addressed with this new UPID identifier and transmitted through
the new communications line to the Special Center.
