Communist labor workers are trying to set un a new printers and. publication
workers union for Canton. Registration of workers for this union is going
very slowly ? rnr1 only about 300 have signed. IVO. The reorganization of the
Canton...Nankai:, Railway Labor Union has been going on for a month; here too
the workers are very slow to register, Ilea.nwhile railway workers have ,heard
a ruror that the former union is being reorganized in Hong Kong, and they are
showing great eagerness to find out about it from Hong Kong friends.
2. Unemployment ins been increasing in Canton. An unemoloyed workers_ committee
has been formed by the Preparatory Comrittee of the Carlton General Labor
Union, the Provincial Labor Buratto, the Industrial and Commercial Bureau,
the Communist Party South China Sub-bureau, the Women" s Association, and
the Youth Corps. Only a very few unemployed workers have registered with
these organioations, as most fear Communist methods of handling-workers.
3. The Communists have dubbed the air raid of 3 March in Canton the "Bloody
Debt of March 3rd", but the people pay no attention to this slogan. Each
time a raid is over political workers preach to Passengers on trains de-
nouncing CETAUD Kai-shek and the Americans, but the people do not apnear
to listen to them.
