Dear Mr. Chairman:
Enclosed are the responses to the questions for the record
submitted to the Agency in your letter of 15 July 1988. The
questions arose out of the 15 June 1988 hearings before the
Subcommittee on Oversight and Evaluation of the Permanent
Select Committee on Intelligence. I appreciate the extension
of time granted by your staff for submitting our responses.
The transcript was returned on 29 July 1988.
You will note that we have not provided a response to
question number 8, seeking our views on criminalization for
leaks of classified information and our plans for legislative
proposals to prevent unauthorized disclosures of classified
information. The Agency is undertaking a careful review of
the issues raised in the question. We anticipate that we will
be able to provide the Committee with an answer within two
weeks.
