and spoke to
to get his view
re training for Logistics Officers going overseas. The
focus, as I understand it, is on managing construction ?
projects rather than learning technical "hands on" skills.".
Means Company and Management Concepts Incorporated
[MCI] are two concerns that offer a variety of project
management courses generally from 2-5 days in length.
FMD/OPS Project Officers have taken courses from both and
feedback has been positive. Of the courses offered, Paul
recommends the "Repair and Remodeling Estimation Course"
offered by Means Co. and "Construction Contracting" offered
my MCI. The MCI course, unlike the name suggests, is a
general course on project management and is not limited to
contracting. As you krrow Grand Valley State pniversity is
another resource available to create project *management
training modules designed for officers going overseas.
Paul also recommends on-the-job training for
logs officers in a 3-4 week interim/cross training
session. He said he could set up a program in FMD/Ops.
I would be happy to contact MCI, Means and other
training programs to gather additional information and
determine if they would be willing to create tailored
courses for us. Let me know if I should proceed.
