Preliminary Report
U-2 RECONNAISSANCE MISSION C425C
flown 31 July 1965
Mission C425C was launched from Taiwan at 0030Z on 31 July 1965
and recovered seven hours later at 0730Z. Planned against 26 COMOR
targets in North Korea, the U-2 was over denied territory for approxi-
mately one hour and fifty-six minutes.
The weather was reported by the pilot to be variable Category III
(broken clouds), or slightly worse than the predicted Category II (scat-
tered clouds).
This mission was in response to the COMOR requirement for quarterly
high-resolution coverage of North Korea. The last U-2 photography of
North Korea was obtained

Preliminary interpretation of the photography indicates that the mis-
sion covered: 13 airfields; 9 military installations; 3 naval facilities;
1 BW/CW center; 5 electronic targets; and 4 urban complexes. In all,
33 COMOR targets were covered. In addition, 2 probable MiG-21 air-
craft were photographed in flight. For examples of the photography
obtained by the mission, see figure 2.
