Material
TO :Project Director, AQUATONE
FROM : Chief, Photo Intelligence Division, ORR
1. In order to have maximum exploitation of HTAUTOMAT
material it is essential that specialized re,artification equip-

existing equipment rather than enter into an extensive R and D
Program, whereas in other cases there is no alternative to the
designing of new equipment.
2. The variety of types of cameras involved will necessitate
procurement of three different types of equipment. The required
instruments are listed below:
a. 70 mm rectifier capable of rectification up to
60 degrees of tilt to be designed, approximate price $39,400. G "o
b. Reed Research two stage rectifier, capable of
correcting up to 75 degrees of tilt, for focal lengths up
to 48 inches. Such an instrument has been produced and is
in operation at ACIC in St. Louis. Apprcximte delivery
price for 6 months $89,700.
c. Rectifier for long focal 1

price $89,000. Total cost 528,000,,- ted
3. It is requested that the funds be provided
in that
AQUATONE, as no funds were approved for such equipment by Proj
for establishing the Photo Interpretation facilitiesthe budget
4. It is suggested that the contract for the Reed Research
equipment be handled by a transfer of funds to D/GP and that the
remaining items be procured through existing Project AQUATONE
channels.
