luring the second quarter of 1953,work on twin transmitters at Funk-work
Koorenick was considerably sreeded up, and work on other transmitters was
deferred to 1954 in order to have the highest possible number of twin or
half twin transmitters completed before the end of 1953. :every half twin trans-
mitter (Halbzug) has about 250 I&J rower and operates in the medium wave range.
2. The following table shows the status of .twin transmitter work at Funkwerk
Koepenick from the beginning to the end of August 1953:
a, zila-A twin transmitter, was projected on rarer .only and never constructed,
because the East German lost withdrew its construction order,
b. SE2- Same as for SEl.
c. Z3-A twin transmitter,which is now operating in the Hubertus area near
Mahlddorf, Lerlin, The first half twin of Z3 has been in operation for
several years; the second half twin was mounted there during the first rart
of 1953.
d. SE3-A twin transmitters consisting of two half twins which are to start full
operations in 1953 at a rlace near burg in the vicinity of Magdeburg, One
half twin is already there; it is in the process of being mounted, The second
half twin ha c been successfully tested at the kunkwerk Koepenick test stand and
js to be shipped to the burg area shortly.
e, St"4-A half twin transmitteroahich was mounted outs 132 of Dresden and began
cperationS on 1 ertember 1953. (Jompletion of this half twin and its mounting
was given particular priority at i'unkwerk Koepenick ,because it was desired
to have it start its propaganda broadcasts before the :est German electiens
on 6 bertember 1953.
f. Bun-A half twin transmitters now under construction. It is to be exported
to Bulearia. Uork ha r progressed to the point that the transmitter will go to
the test stand in about jovember 1953, It will be shipped to Bulgaria during
the fourth quarter of 1953.
