SUBJECT: Weekly Staff Notes, 4 - 8 March 1985
1. The DDA was briefed on the Department of State's
12-Point Classified Processing Equipment Program on 5 March.
2. Funds were identified and allocated to the Second Phase
Automated Relay System (SPARS) project.

5. Maintenance costs for the DO/CRAFT systems will remain
in the CRAFT Ongoing Initiative, but will be allotted to the DA
at the beginning of the 1987 operating year and each succeeding
year until CRAFT achieves full operating capability.
6. The costing sheets for responding to the Directorates'
FY 1987-1991 New Communications Services were completed. The
costing sheets and documentation will be forwarded to the
Directorates the week of 11 March. RAG has now completed
two of the three phases of this year's 1987-1991 exercise.
Those near-term, 1985-1986, items which were included among
the 1987-1991 New Communications Services are currently being
circulated within OC. The FY 1985-1986 items which the Divisions
do not recognize as levied requirements will be identified to the
Directorates with a request to formally document the requirement
with OC.

7. C/RAG represented OC and OIT at a DO-chaired meeting of
an Agencywide task force charged to review and develop FY 1987
New Initiatives for addressing the counterterrorism problem.
9. Satellites - The first draft of the SAC UHF requirements
study was received. RAG will initially review this draft and
then distribute to the appropriate offices for their review/
