A. SIGNIFICANT ITEMS

B. OTHER ACTIVITIES
1. The sub-committee drafting a report and recommendations on the
developmental running of "Personal Effectiveness Abroad" held an-
other session on Thursday and agreed upon a final draft, to be put
before the entire group next week for final comment. The report
recommends a detailed program as well as two courses to be offered
on a periodic basis starting in the early fall.
3. On 15 May Mr. Talat Karagjozi of the Voice of America came to
Qtrs. Eye to test three people orally in Albanian. This is the first
oral test we have given in Albanian, because of the difficulty in
locating competent Albanian speakers. Mr. Karagjozi will also provide
us with a new standard translation of our Albanian reading test and
will correct and grade compositions written in Albanian, some of
which have been in abeyance for over a year.
4. On 1 20 May, of the Management Staff came to confer with
on the processing of language test results.
During the week briefed various Agency employes to start
work on composing new objective tests in Albanian, French, German,
Italian, and Russian, also a new translation test in Bengali.

6. One hundred and forty Certifications for Language Award
certificates were sent to the Registrar last week.
7. Ninety-eight people reported for tests last week in Chinese,
Norwegian, Serbian, Italian, Japanese, German, Polish, Spanish,
French, Greek, Czech, Russian and Danish.
8. A particularly heavy schedule of oral tests has been carried
out during the past four weeks. During this period a total of
232 tests were conducted in fifteen different languages.
