Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2009/12/18: CIA-RDP61-00442A000200040058-2 STANDARD FORM W. TO : Acting Chief, Language and Area School FROM : Deputy Chief, Area Training SUBJECT: Weekly Activities Report DATE: 9 September 1959 A. SIGNIFICANT ITEMS None B. OTHER ACTIVITIES 1. The Americans Abroad Orientations for Germany, Western Europe, and Latin America commencing on the 14th have a total of 24+ enrolled, including 4 dependents. This is the off-season for movement to Western Europe, and one year ago we were forced to cancel. The 13 enrolled for Latin America represent a new high for that area. The proportion of dependents, however, is still discouraging. 2. A new feature of the Latin America briefing is an afternoon session on "How to make the most of your personal contacts" in the area, a topic which was introduced successfully in the Germany briefing in June. WH has designated has lived most of his life in the area, to work up t s session with me. 3. I very much regret, but respect, decision that he will not have the time to co-direct with me our prospective Senior Area Seminar on Europe. My next approach will be to A --r specialist on Eastern Europe for this purpose in order to the theme which we consider most timely for this fall, cover namely, the whole problem of European security as viewed by 25X1 West and East. 25 YEAR RE-RE -?- Copy Approved for Release 2009/12/18: CIA-RDP61-00442A000200040058-2 Office Memorandum UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT
