At a meeting held on 22 February 1952, it was reported that planned production for January had been 92 percent. fulfilled. With respect to the target for February, difficulties were being experienced in the production of balancing machines., oscillating tables, and compasses. 2. However, sine the thepartment had guaranteed future deliveries of castings in addition to better work, an improvement in material difficulties was foreseen. 3. For 1-22 February, production figures were as follows Compasses (lacking the necessary spring rings) Oscillating tables(7-8,produced; 5 produced. of Type 80?H) Balancing machines AM 50'(1 produced). At a meeting on 11 February production of wire-drawing diamond dies was discusSed. It as reported that the first order was for 15,000 arid, that delivery of rough stones would start at once. 50X1 -HUM 6. a visit was to be made on 15 February by a Chinese trade delegation and had resulted in considerable planning. Arrangements made for the delegates included a conducted tour of the works, a special show in the planetarium, and the provision of two Russian interpreters. Plans wPrA also made to decorate the approach to the entrance hall with 50X1 -HUM several Chinese flags and the table with flags, messages of welcome, and a picture,of MAO Tse-tung, 7. An outbreak of typhoid (typhus),, , in the apprentice wing was referred to and it was revealed that there were, at that time ,fifteendiagnosed cases and thirteen persons under observation. Because of the epidemic, the apprentice wing would not be included in the Chinese delegation tour. 8. At a meeting on 25 February, attention was drawn to the Czech invention of a small microscope which performs the due] function of a microscope and telescope.
