2, On 15 September,. the KVP Verband Prora was released by VP Bereitschaft

Between 10 and 21 September, .the VP Verband Prenzlau detached a number of
Particularly qualified and experienced officers to the USSR for study on
war academies of the Red Army. Depending on their branches of service the
officers are scheduled to study from 1 to 5 years in the DSSR.,Further
officers were to be detached tothe USSR in the days following 21 September.
4 Between 5 and 21 September, advanced combat practice firing was held by the
artillery units of the Verband in the Kleine Heide (Heath) near Prenzlau.
Petween 15 and 25 Septehaber, exercises at battalion level were held in,the?
Torgelow area (Droegeheide). The infantry units involved Tired with rive
ammunition. Large-scale fall maneuvers involving the entire KVP Verband
are not scheduled for this year. 4
Comment... These data indicate that the strength figures of the 50X1 -HUM
'vision headquarters and its attached units including the signal battalion
have changed only imnaterially after 25 August 1953. On the other hand, the
personnel strength of thern 2d Int' Kommande in Prenziau decreased by 283 men.
It is not clear, whether the reported deerease in the ration strength also
reflects a corresponding decrease in the personnel strength, because there ,
is a possibility that component units of the infantry Kommando were engaged
in exercises and thus drew their rations from another unit .

3', Comment. Since several years la officers,have been dispatched in 50X1 -HUM
the fall to the USSR for study on military academies . Generally the
courses attended by these officers last 1 year.

were cafteelia::., because major elements of Armeegruppe Nord 'Mere employed
in East Berlin' and because a reorganization of the KVP - , was started
in September..
