SUBJECT : American Chemical Society - Award for
Creative Invention
1. This memorandum submits for your signature a letter to Mr.
Irving Kator, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Interagency Advisory
Group.
2. The attached memorandum from Mr. Kator invites nominations
for the Award for Creative Invention which is sponsored by the American
Chemical Society. The purpose of this award is to recognize individual
inventors (in private industry and Government) for successful application
of research in chemistry or chemical engineering which contribute to the
material prosperity and happiness of the people.
3. Members of the Suggestion and Invention Awards Committee
were asked to canvass their Directorates for individuals who might be
nominated for this award. No nominees were received. The Agency has
never nominated a candi.4ate for this award, which was established in
1966.
4. It is recommended that you sign the attached letter to Mr. Kator
advising him that this Agency has no nominations for the 1968 Award for
Creative Invention. The deadline for submissions is 1 March 1968.
