Location: The airfield is located in the immediate vicinity of the city, about 50C 50X1-HUM meters west of the Elblag-Nalbirk rail line (indicated by I on attachmentj This rail line is double tracked and leaves the Elblag station (marked II) first in a southerly direction before bending to the west around the airfield maintaining a distance of 500 meters from the field. South og the field the rail line crosses a road by way of an over- pass. This road parallels the field at a distance of about 20 meters;to the west. The sides of the road are planted with low shrubs. 50X1-HUM About 100 meters beyond 50X1-HUM the overjass (IV) the railroad crosses a canal (VI) on a bridge (V). This bridge is only for rail traffic, and carries a double track. The canal marked VI is about 30 meters wide anns parallel to the road (III). It is likely these serve as 50X1 -HUM this canal is about 50 to 60 meters wide. There are two bridges over the canal to the west of Elblag, namely one for the road marked III (see VIII) and tom another for the railroad line north of the Elblag station iibc (IX). About 100 to 125 meters north of the Elblag station there is a locomotive and freight car factory, situated along the rail line. b. Condition of the Airfield and Surroundings. 50X1 -HUM The length of the field is about one kilometer in a north?south direction and about 800 metdrs in width. VII (canal) is The land between the airfield and the roads I, III, and crop and pasture land xict of a hilly aspect. The countryside amtsida beyond mixtknont the highway, railroad and canal is covered with a thick growth of oak and pine trees. The land between canal VI and road III is also wooded, as is the land to the west of this canal. c. Airfield Garrison. The field is being used by the Polish air force. there were also Russian 50X1 -HUM aircraft present. Data on Mall:York Airfield A 4.s 1 a. Location. The field is located about There is a road running in an east-west direction about 500 meters to the north of the field. This road is paved with basalt stones in the .)ttkti ?44 i look " nrFiNts four kilometers to the east of Malbark. 4 vicinity of Nalbeark. The width of this road is estimated at abput 10 meters, 50X1 -HUM in any case it is wide enough for three autos to pass abreast (road is indicated on attachment with I). The sides of this road are planted wbth linden trees, whose foliage shades the entire road. (II) A side road/runs from this road td the airfield before Malbilrk is reached. About 20 meters to rail line running in an 50X1 -HUM 50X1 -HUM this road is not planted with trees. 50X1 -HUM the north of the road marked I, a double-track east-west direction leads to Elblag. Immediately outside of the Mallfrk station (IV) a rail line (V) bends off in a southerly direction. There is a large sugar factory (VI) about 100 meters from the Mallirk station. Close by the sugar factory, wotk was begun in the spring of 1952 (VIIX on a road/which leads directly to the airfield. b. Condition of the Airfield and Surroundings. 50X1 -HUM On the basis of buildings standing along the field, estimates size the immik of the field at about IL kilometers. The countryside in the neighborhood of the field is hilly and is used as crop and pasture land. There are trees here and there. .
