As a follow-up to our previous correspondence on our proposed
briefing to the Vice President, the topic of chemical and biological
warfare continues to elicit strong executive and legislative
interest. Since this topic is of keen interest to the Vice President,
we offer the period 23-25 July as the best dates for a briefing on key
By the third week of July, several important Intelligence
Community studies and initiatives will have been well on their way
toward completion. The Senate also will have completed initial
hearings on the CW Treaty and related issues.
Several of the Government's foremost experts on this subject. Mr.
David Low, a National Intelligence Officer, and
Chairmen of two of the Community's analytical and
collection committees, are prepared to give a 40-minute briefing on
this subject, allowing 10 minutes for questions.
We hope that the Vice President's schedule will permit him to join
us for this briefing.
