AMENDMENT TO C.I.G. DIRECTIVE NO. 18
COORDINATION OF COLLECTION ACTIVITIES
Memorandum by the Secretary
1. The Director of Central Intelligence and the
Intelligence Advisory Board have agreed to amend paragraph 1 B
3 (b) of C.I.G. Directive No. 18, dated 23 January 1947, which
now reads:
"(b) Insure to the best of his ability that
the collection missions of the respective depart-
ment or agency representatives are being promptly
and adequately accomplished; that collection dup-
lication is avoided; and that the information ob-
tained is properly channeled."
to read:
"(b) Insure that unproductive collection
duplication is avoided; and that the information
obtained is properly channeled."
2. It is, therefore, requested that the attached amended
page 2 of C.I.G. Directive No. 18 stituted for the original
page 2 of that Directive and uperseded pages be destroyed
by burning.
