SUBJECT: (Informal. Progress eport,, D-103
This letter constitutes the Forty-eighth Monthly Report,
submitted in compliance with Contract RD-103, covering the month of
April, 1960.
TASK 5. DEVELOPMENT OF AS-5 SYSTEM
The second AS-5 System was completed and shipped to
the Washington area for field testing with the first AS-5, AS-4 and AS-4A
systems. The first system, which is complete except for the 400 cycle
and high voltage power supplies, is located at the
Test Site. Work is proceeding on the above-mentioned power supplies
for the first system so that they may be added at the earliest possible
date.
After installation of the first system at the
Test Site, a great deal of r-f feedback occurred, in the transmit condition,
which had not shown up in previous tests. The elimination of this r-f feed-
back in the first system was followed by a series of tests between the AS-4
and AS-5 Systems to determine the AS-5 operational characteristics.
TASK 8. AS-6 DATA TELEMETERING SYSTEM
The final report on the AS-6 Base Station is ready to be
reproduced and now awaits the determination of a cleared printing facility
by the customer's security representatives. The Field Unit final report
has been released to the publications group and should be ready for print-
ing shortly.
TASK 10. FABRICATION OF RS-16B
Work on the instruction manual is nearly complete and 25X1
publication should be finished early in the next reporting period.
