The Secretary of the Treas- ury, the Economic Cooperation Administrator, the Director, Bureau of the Budget, and the Chairman, Council of Economic Advisers, participated in this Council action. Pursuant to NSC Action No, 28g-b, an ad hoc committee was established to prepare a response to the ~resident~s directive in NSC 68 as a matter of urgency. Pur- suant to NSC Action No. 302-b, this ad hoc committee was further authorized to study and make recommendations with respect to the organization of the government to implement the Conclusions of NSC 6$ in the event chose Conclusions are approved. At its 62nd Meeting the Council noted a statement by the President on the sub- ject, establishing the deadline date of September 1, 1950 for sub- mission of the Council's response to his directive in NSC 68 (NSC Action No. 321.) The Presidents statement was accordingly referred to the ad hoc committee for appropriate action, and the committee met again on Monday, July 31 to determine the most ex- peditious means of completing a draft response to the Presidents directive for Council consideration prior to September 1.
