U. S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT
26 SEPTEMBER 1977
Cuban forces in Angola are so bogged
down trying to. prop up the shaky
Marxist Government there, according
to U.S. intelligence sources, that Fidel
Castro will not commit troops in sig-
nificant numbers to support the black
"liberationists" in nearby Rhodesia
against the Ian Smith regime.
Aides say Presidegt Carter is showing
more and more anger over news arti
cles critical of his Administration-
with his ire directed not so much at
reporters for writing the stories but at
officials who leak damaging informa-
tion anonymously.

U.S. intelligence officials have con-
cluded that the Soviet Union did not
start the recent fire in the American
Embassy in Moscow as a way of gain-
ing access to U.S. secret files, nor were I
any secrets compromised by Soviet fire
fighters who barged into the Embassy.
