The Director was on the Hill. ADD/I, reporting on the weekly findings of Task Force , said that three large Soviet air transports had landed at anoi on 14 September. This made a total of five since 10 September. The type of cargo is unknown. Executive Director asked that the Director be informed. eported that General Linville has apparently con- vinced the Secretary of Defense that it would be wise to withdraw U. S. forces from the Dominican Republic by 20 September, a week earlier than planned. reported that the Dominican Republic Estimate had been finished Friday, that USIB reactions are expected early today, and that the results will be sent to the White House by mid-afternoon. noted that, in connection with a scheduled NIE on the subject of Chinese Communist forces and the Vietnam war, officer as a formal 25X1 X1 25X1 of the DIA representation. He told DIA that this was not possible. Executive Director agreed. reported that, in connection with his tour as the DCI Duty Officer this weekend, he feels the hours as scheduled might be more efficacious if they were moved up. In the discussion that followed, it was generally agreed that the tour on Saturday should be from 0830 to 1300 and that between 0900 and 0930 is sufficiently early to be on hand on Sunday. Stoneman from AID will have lunch with him at Headquarters today to discuss Vietnam. Houston mentioned the rather objective tone of an article in Executive Director reported on a budget meeting at the White House last Friday which he had attended with the Director. The President had been explicit about the need for reductions and freezes. Executive Director said the Agency would be examining what can be done to comply.
