25X1A SUBJECT Department of Justice Investigation of
1. In response to your memorandum dated 22 August
1975, the Office of Security has taken steps to notify all
current and retired employees of the Office whose names are
on the Department of Justice list that they will be inter-
viewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation concerning
25X1A They are being told that these interviews
are part of an investigation being conducted by the Civil
Rights Division of the Department of Justice. They are
also being advised that the Director of Central Intelligence
is preparing a letter to the Department of Justice which
will state that the conduct of the listed individuals con-
cerning was in the course of Agency activity
directed by their superiors. Additionally, they are being
advised that they may consult with the Office of General
Counsel if they have any questions concerning their past
performance of official duties.
2. Attached hereto is a list which gives the date
of retirement, status of retirement (overt or covert) and
current address of those Office of Security personnel on
the Department of Justice list who have retired.
