Morning Meeting of 27 September 1966
ADD/I raised the question of sending DD/I officers to interrogate
DD/P felt that this would
be premature and that it would be best for the moment to proceed with

said the Director would receive a memorandum tomorrow
on the Department of Defense's desire to reorganize the pacification
program in South Vietnam.
Bross initiated a discussion of the military attache program and
said that, when joins his staff, he would discuss the present
procedures of the military attaches with DIA and evaluate their output.
The Director agreed but asked that in the meantime Bross draft a letter
for the Director's signature to the Secretary of State as an interim re-
ply.

Headquarters this morning, and added that the Senator had 25X1
expressed appreciation, seemed impressed, and will be traveling to
Latin America in January.
The Director commended last night's dinner and briefing for the
White House Fellows. He mentioned that had received 25X1
the Distinguished Service Medal from the Air Force as a result of his
performance as Director of Special Activities.
In connection with the President's trip to the Philippines in
October, the Director asked to prepare a paper on the 25X1
security situation in the Philippines.
