PLAN FAILS TO AUTHORIZE SUFFICIENT PRODUCTION -- Moscow, Trud, 22 Nov 50
Although it has been apparent for some time that productivity of the mines
in the Chelyabinsk region would rise sharply if they were furnished with enough
machines capable of handling the deposits there, the trusts charge with mining
that area have not enough two bar coal cutters.
Daring 1947-48, the Kopeysk Machine-Building Plant imeni Kirov put out
out only 12 two-bar KW coal cutters. Then production of them was stopped,
since, for reasons unknown to the miners, the Ministry of the Coal Industry
and the Main Administration for Coal Machinery had not planned the production
of new machines for the plant. Workers of the Chelyabinskugol' Combine and the
Kopeyskugol' Trust consequently have been bombarding the ministry with demands
for two-bar cutting machines for a year and a half. Finally, on 5 April 1950,
Morgunov, director of the plant, received the following order from the Main
Administration for Coal Machinery:
"In accordance with the order of the Minister of 17 March 1950, manufacture
and deliver to the Chelyabinskugol' Combine 20 KMP coal cutters, with twin bars
and blade-type culm removers. Ten are to be produced in March, and ten in May
!,1950.1[
One of course asks how the plant could go about building machines in
March, when it is already April. Furthermore, 20 machines for the combine are
just a drop in the bucket. The Kopeyskugol' Trust alone needs 23 more two bar
machines. In spite of this, the Main Administration for Coal Machinery does
not plan to produce two bar machines in 1951. The Ministry and the Main Admin-
istration for Qpen Pit Mining, which is directly over the Chelyabinskugol Com-
bine, should:$ttt into practice the lessons of advanced Stakhanovite experience.
It is high t.ee the miners of the Chelyabinsk basin got the machines they need.

The first PK-2-M mining combine, constructed by the workers of the Kopeysk
Machine-Building Plant imeni Kirov, has been put into operation in a mine of
the Kopeyskugol' Trust.
PUP OUT NEW CONVEYERS -- Kiev, Pravda Ukrainy, 30 Aug 50
The Svet Shakhtera Plant has fulfilled the 8-month plan ahead of time, and
has begun production of the new SKT-6 conveyer, designed for use in mines having
small seams. It should enable miners to obtain more coking coal. Anbther new
conveyer in production, the SKR-11, can deliver supporting timber to the mine
face.
The recently built SK-20 and SK-30 conveyers are designed to work in con-
junction with combines. The plant has also built a heavy conveyer, the LKU-250.
PNEUMATIC MOTOR WILL'-POWER COMBINES - - Leningradskaya Pravda, 5 Nov 50
The Leningrad Pnevmatika Plant has put out some experimental models of a
new 30-horsepower pneumatic motor, designed to run combines working on sharply
slor!.ng seams
The Plant imeni Kotlyakov has completed several new types of ore-concen-
trating machines, and has begun series production of a high-frequency jig.
NEW DRILL IS LIGHTER, MORE ECONOMICAL -- Alma-Ata, Kazakhstanskaya Pravda,

The Tomsk Electric Machinery Plant imeni Vakhrushev has begun production
of the new OM-9 pneumatic coal drill. Compared to existing models, it is more
productive, lighter, and uses one third the amount of air.
INVENT STONE CUTTER -- Kishinev, Sovetskaya Moldaviya, 25 Oct 50
A Dorproyekt engineer has invented a stone-cutting machine for open-pit
quarrying, capable of producing cut stones directly from the quarry face. Two
of these machines are being completed on direction of the Ministry of Trans-
portation.
