DIVISIONS. 1951 - 1952 The Main Administration of. Educational Institutions of the Ministry of Transportation has announced the opening of enrollment in the 2-year divisions of its railroad-transport tekhnikums (specialized secondary technical schools) for the 1951 - 1952 schoci year. The 2-year divisions train railroad trans- port technicians. Persons 23-40 years of age, with not less than a seventh-grade education, who have had at least 3 years) experience in their specialty, and who can pass entrance examinations in the USSR Constitution, Russian language and litera- ture and mathematics, are eligible for enrollment. Railroad employees must send their applications through their immediate superiors to the head of their railroad system; employees of institutions and enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Transportation must send their appli- cations to the head of their respective main administration of the ministry. All applications must contain the following documents: certificate of education, work references, autobiography, birth certificate or identity card (presented in person), three photographs, record of draft status, and health record issued by a medical institution. Persons enrolled will be paid a salary during the course of training tt3 months corresponding to their average earnings during helast hs oft emploemploy- ment (not exceeding 790 rubles per month), by the ila assigning them. A comparison of the 1950 announcement, which appeared in Gudok, 11. August 1950, with the present announcement of the ministry reveals that 2-year divi- sions for the training of railroad transport technicians have been added to the Moscow Railroad-Transport Tekhnikums imeni Oktyabr'skaya Revolyutsiya and imeni F. E. Dzerzhtnskiy, and have been dropped from the Moscow Planning and. The Akmolinsk Railroad-Transport Tekhnikum added the.specialty of steam locomotives; the Sverdlovsk added the specialty of construction of civilian and technical buildings; the Leningrad Tekhnikum imeni F. E. Dzerzhinsky added the specialty of subway electromechanical equipment, and the Moscow Tekhnikum imeni A. A. Andreyev dropped the specialty of electric power supply for electric railroads. The Kiev Electromechanical Tekhnikum dropped its specialty of railroad tele- phone-telegraph communications, added that. of signaling, centralized control of switches and signals, and operation of block signals, while the Khar'kov Rail- road-Transport Tekhni.kum dropped the latter specialty. At the Tashkent Electro- mechanical Tekhnikum, the specialty of steam locomotives is now being taught instead of that of diesel locomotives.
