Yesterday during the day, cloudy weather with snowfalls prevailed in the
Belorussian SSR. Temperatures at 1500 were 6 below zero in Mogilev and Vitebsk,
5 below in Minsk and Gomel', 4 below in Bobruysk and Mozyr', 3 below in Barano-
vichi, 2 below in Pinsk, and zero in Brest.(l)
This morning, cloudy weather with slightly below zero temperatures and local
snowfalls prevailed in the northwestern and central regions of the European USSR.
Fog was observed in localities of low elevation in the western and central regions
of the European USSR. Cold weather prevailed in the northern portion of the Euro-
pean USSR, the Urals, the Kazakh SSR, and most of Western Siberia.(2)
Yesterday during the day, rising temperatures prevailed in the Belorussian
SSR. Temperatures at 1500 were 8 degrees below zero in Bychikha, 6 below in Vite-
bsk and Polotsk, 4 below in Baranovichi and Gomel', 3 below in Minsk and Novogru-
dok, 2 below in Lida, one below in Volxovysk, and zero : Brest and Pinsk.(1)

Yesterday during the day, overcast weather with precipitation in the form
of rain prevailed in the Belorussian SSR. Temperatures at 1500 were zero in By-
chikha, one degree above zero in Polotsk, Mogilev, Minsk, Gomel', Grodno, and
Brest, 2 in Pinsk, and 3 in Lel'chitsy.(1)
Yesterday's temperatures in Leningrad were 6 degrees below zero both during

This morning, cloudy with clearing weather with slightly below zero to mod-
erate subzero temperatures and local snowfalls prevailed in most of the European
USSR. The weather was cold in Komi ASSR and the Urals. Temperatures dropped in
the Middle Volga Region and the northeastern Ukraine. Warm weather with rain was
recorded in Rostovskaya and Astrakhanskaya oblasts, the Crimea, and the Caucasus.
Thunderstorms occurred on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus.

Cold, mostly slightly cloudy weather prevailed this morning in idle central,
eastern, and southeastern regions of the European USSR. Teri eraturec dropped
in Stavropol'skiy Kray, Rostovskaya Oblast, and the northern and eastern regions
of the Ukraine. Cloudy weather with slightly below zero temperatures and strong
winds locally was recorded in the rest of the Ukraine, the Belorussian SSE, the
Baltic republics, and the northern regions of the European USSR. Snowfal'.s were
recorded in Komi ASSR. Warm, dry weather prevailed in the Crimea and on the
Black Sea coast of the Caucasus.

During the last 24 hours, a mass of cold air invaded the Belorussian SSR
from the north. As a result, yesterday morning's temperatures dropped consid-
erably in most of the republic to 15-20 degrees below zero, and locally to 21-
23 degrees below.(l)
