MOSCOW PLANTS STEP UP PUMP PRODUCTION; DEVE NEW COMPRESSOR The Moscow Pump Plant imeni Kalinin ie one of the oldest enterprises in the capital. It makes pumps of various types, including excavation pumps for the Kuybyshev Hydroelectric Station on the Volga. The plant fulfilled its third-quarter plan 109 percent in gross output, and 111 percent 1n commercial output.' It was awarded second place in the all- Union socialist competition by the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Machine and Instrument Building: It greatly exceeded its" production program in spite of the fact that it had'4 percent fewer workers than estimated in the plan. The plant has now pledged to complete its annual ~ plan in output of all types of pumps by 17 December, and this pledge is being successfully carried out.' During the last 2 years, the plant has changed unbelievably. Production has been reorganized and the conveyer-belt assembly of pumps has`been'carried out. More than 3,000 square meters have been freed for production. With the help of this additional area,?and with no increase in the number of workers, output was almost doubled within a short time. Over one million rubles of More attention was paid to the casting shop. Individual sections were re- organized, conveyers were installed, and the work of sand-preparation was im- proved. As a result. s large. suaalementarv mol3ina area was obtained. The mechanization of many labor-consuming manual processes made it possible to double the output of castings in the same production area. Improved methods of filling molds were worked out. Large-scale technical organization measures were slso introduced in other shops: different shops. This caused great difficulties which were reflected in the parts and the assembly of" pampa were organized along conveyer methods. Special rotating tables were designed for the drilling machines. Thus, existing equipment could be used for machining parts, without the purchase of new radial drilling machines. The adoption of this suggestion sharply increased output, and the production program for arte- sian and small pumps was exceeded. An old cleaning area was remodeled into a well-equipped, 1,500-square me- ter cleaning shop. This made possible a steady flow of goods from the casting shop to the assembly shop. A special apparatus is being constructed in the cleaning shop for removing the sand after the mold frame_is_knocked off .and the chipping is done. By means of two conveyer belts under the shop floor, the sand will be fed by lift and hopper directly on, .to trucks. The plsnt has received a large order for the production of heavy-duty ex- cavation pumps for the Kuybyshev Hydroelectric Station. The first order has been completed, and the required number of pumps was ready before the promised date. In September, the Moscow Kompressor Plant put out a new horizontal two- stage ammonia compressor with a refrigerating capacity of 275,000 calories per hour.. Compressors of this type will be produced for various branches of the national economy where the technological production process requires tempera- tures as low as minus 30-35 degrees centigrade. FAILS TO UTILIZE MACHINE TOOLS PROPERLY -- Moscow, Moskovakaya Pravda, 8 Dec, 50 It is to be regretted that certain Moscow plants do not utilize their equipment to the fullest extent. For example, the machine tool park at the Moscow Steklomashina Plant has an average total load of 46 percent, and some machine tools are used even less than this -- vertical milling machines, 35 percent; gear-milling machines, 23.3 percent; and gear shapers, only 9.7 per- cent. If you add this to the fact that about 18 percent of the parts produced at the plant are rejects, it is easy to see how uneconomically the machine tools are utilized there. Often the productivity of equipment is sharply reduced because the tech- nologista and workers in the production planning departments do not plan the technological processes or assign the parts to the machine tools carefully.: LENINGRAD PLANTS CARRY OL'T COLLECTIVE CONTRACTS -- Leningradskaya Pravda, 1 Nov 50 ' Checking on fulfillment of collective contracts at Leningrad plants of the Ministry of Machine and Instrument Building has been completed. In the large majority of enterprises, the mutual obligations of administration and collec- ' tives are being successfully carried out.' The Leningrad Plant imeni Vtoroy Pyatiletki.had an almost perfect record for the third quarter.,. - END - _ 2 SECRET 50X1-HUM ~~1?!
