BUILD AND REPAIR MACHINE TOOLS -- Tbilisi, Zarya Vostoka, 21 Oct 53
In September, the Tbilisi Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Kirov manufac-
tured several machine tools above plan, including five machine tools for agri-
cultural needs.
The plant must produce hundreds of universal screw-cutting lathes for MTS
and enterprises of agricultural machine building. Personnel at ';he assembly
shop have pledged to finish assembling the lathes by 10 December 1953.
A new 5-ton crane which is shortening the production cycle considerably
has been installed at the machining section where Sh. Dolidze is senior foreman.

On 8 October, the Tbilisi Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Kirov shipped
ten screw-cutting lathes to MTS in Vitebskaya, Ryazanskaya, and Omskaya oblasts
and in Bashkirskaya ASSN.
In October, the plant will produce 180 machine tools for agricultural needs.
A special shop has been designated at the plant to repair lathes; milling,
planing, and drilling machines; and other equipment for repair workshops at MTS.
Plant designers have completed work on the modernization of an existing
model of a screw-cutting lathe which has been adapted for machining large tractor
parts. A new machine tool is being prepared in the assembly shop for testing
under plant conditions.

The Tbilisi Machine Tool Building Plant imeni S. M. Kirov is giving support
to the Teletskaya MTS, Gareubanskiy Rayon. This MPS is responsible for supply-
ing Tbilisi with vegetables, milk, butter, eggs, and other agricultural products.
A group of workers from the plant visited the MTS to become familiar with
the needs of the station. A lathe and drilling machine that needed repair were
sent to the plant on the same day. In a short time the lathe was repaired and
equipped with a coolant system and an apparatus for spot illumination. Technical
documentation was also provided. The plant has also sent many tools and fasten-

The application of a new technology and advanced work methods has made it
Possible for the Kharkov Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Molotov to manufac-
ture, by high-speed methods, 148 high-production machine tools for MTS and
sovkhozes. Many of the machine tools were produced ahead of schedule.

The Yerevan Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Dzerzhinskiy recently shipped
the seccnd consignment of metal-cutting machine tools to ITS. The machine tools
were shipped to the Ardons]'aya and Digorskaya MPS, Severo-Osetinskaya ASSR; to
the Sovetskaya MPS, Kabardinskaya ASSR; and to other MTS.
Having made the second consignment of machine tools to MPS, the plant com-
pleted ahead of schedule the special assignment given by the Ministry of Machine
Building USSR for the fourth quarter 1953.

The Melitopol' Machine Tool Building Plant has manufactured a large number
of machine tools for MTS in 1953. Recently, the enterprise received a supple-
mentary assignment to produce 100 additional machine tools.

Workers and ' engineering and technical personnel at the Vitebsk Machine
Tool Building Plant imeni S. M. Kirov are putting forth all their efforts to
produce as many products as possible for MTS and kolkhoz needs while fulfilling
the basic products plan.
The plant completed the 1953 order for agricultural needs 3 months ahead
of schedule. More than 500 parts of different types have already been manufac-
tured above the-plan. The plant has also shipped planing, vertical-milling,
internal-grinding, and other machine tools to MTS ahead of schedule. In
adc:ition, old machine tools are being repaired for the MTS in Vitebskaya Oblast.

Repaired machine tools have already been received at the Beshenkovichskaya,
Yezerishchenskaya, and Lioznenskaya MTS.

The Moscow Krasnyy Proletariy Machin: Tool Building Plant will have shipped
500 universal screw-cutting lathes and several thousand tractor spare parts to
enterprises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Procurement USSR in October alone.

In 10 months of 1953, the Moscow Krasnyy Proletariy Plant has manufactured
more than 2 million rubles' worth of spare parts for tractors and agricultural
machines.
In 1953, the plant must manufacture 40,000 complex double-rim gears for
tractors. It had already produced 34,000 of these parts by 20 November. Thou-
sands of complex gears are being manufactured for sugar-beet harvesting combines
and production has been started of separate units for potato harvesting combines.
In 1953, the plant has shipped 1,350 lathes to MTS.

On 17 Novemter, the Vitebsk Machine Tool Building Plant imeni Komintern
completed the 1953 plan ahead of schedule for the production of tractor spare
parts.
In the past 2 months, the enterprise has shipped dozens of vertical-drilling
and radial-drilling machines to MTS and meadow-improvement stations in the
Lithuanian, Kirgiz, and other republics.

Since the beginning of 1953, the Moscow Grinding Machine Plant has manufac-
tured about 27,000 gears of different types for tractors and other agricultural
machines. By the end of 1953, it is slated to produce several thousand more
spare parts for tractors. Twenty grinding machines are now being manufactured
for enterprises producing agricultural machines.

The Kolomna Heavy Machine Tool Building Plant has manufactured. more than
2,200 parts for agricultural needs. Plant workers are also helping agricultural
artels build hotbeds.

Besides supplying agriculture with tools, workers at the plant are also
assisting the workers at the Dzerzhinskiy Komintern Kolkhoz in the planned
construction of hotbeds and hothouses. Last week, about 100 workers from the
plant participated in u';ging the foundation pit for the boiler room. Brick
from Minsk Plant No 1 was delivered to the kolkhoz in a truck belonging to the
Minsk Tool Plant imeni Chkalov. In a few days, the workers from the Ninsk Tool
Plant imeni Chkalov will begin laying .he foundation and constructing the brick
walls for the hothouse.
