The Statistics Administration Belorussian SSR reports that all industry in
the republic fulfilled the 1951 plan 103 percent, including 103 percent by union
industry and 103 percent by republic, oblast, and rayon industry.
Grose production in 1951 increased 18 percent over 1950.
Individual oblasts of the Belorussian SSR fulfilled the gross-production

In 1951, kolkhozes of the republic considerably increased the sown area
of agricultural crops. The total sown area increased 24 percent in 1951 over
1950, as follows: grain and legumes 25 percent, flax 15 percent, and fodder
crops 26 percent. In 1951, 33 percent more manure and 54 percent more peat
than in 1950 were applied to sowings.
In 1951, kolkhozes of the republic did a considerable amount of work in
draining fertile marshland, clearing of plowland, meadows, and pastureland from
bushes and stones. Kolkhozes prepared 19 percent more coarse fodder in 1951
than in 1950.
12S of the republic completed 36 percent more tractor work than in 1950.
The fourth reduction of state retail prices on consumers' goods, effective
in 1951, further increased the purchasing power of the population.
In 1951, larger quantities of the following items were sold than in 1950:
cotton and silk fabrics, sewn goods, and leather footwear. Trade organizations
of the Belorussian SSR fulfilled 98 percent of the plan for retail commodity
turnover. Sales of agricultural products in kolkhoz markets of the republic
increased. Sales of the following products increased considerably over 1950:
milk, butter, lard, eggs, poultry, and others.
