LIGHT INDUSTRY ARRESTED -- Zagreb Vjesnik, 29 Aug 50 Budapest, 28 August (Tanjug) -- It has been reported that Hungary's former Minister of Justice,, Istvan Ris,.has been arrested and that the present Minister of Light Industry has been relieved of his duties and also arrested. Both were members of the former Social Democratic Party. Soon the ministers who are members of the Peasant Party will be relieved of their duties. Minister of Justice Bodnar will be'the first,to be replaced. Budapest circles are speaking of a future reorganization of...tthe government.and of replacing the present Premier, Istvan Dobi. The present Vice-Premier, Matyas Rakoei, is scheduled to become Premier. The same circles hold that Farkas too has been suggested for the presidency and that this suggestion was sent to Moscow. An answer and an approval by the Soviet Politburo are being awaited. OPPOSITIONIST SENTENCED TO DEATH -- Budapest Friss Ujsag, 16 Jul 50 On 30 June, Sandor Molnar, Korostarcea oppositionist, burned the grain on the producer cooperative's land next to his. He intended to set fire to 100 stacks of grain, which was harvested and stacked, but workers of the adjacent agricultural machine station.and peasants working nearby prevented the fire from spreading. Molnar was'taken into custody by the State Security Authority, and on 15 July was sentenced to death by the Gyula County court sitting at Bekescsaba. The death sentence was carried out. GET PRISON TERMS FOR THOSE ENDANGERING GRAIN SUPPLY -- Budapest Friss Ujsag, 1 Aug 50 Mihaly Sandor, a farmer, delivered 500 kilograms of weevily wheat and rye to the cooperative storehouse. As a result, 50,000 kilograms of grainstoored~- in the warehouse were contaminated. The county court sentenced him to 3 years' - pr Mrs Janos Kummer was given the same penalty for a similar act. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison, fined 1,000 forints cash, and penalized an additional 1,500 forints. Joseph K. Vejda was given a 12 year prison sentence because he did not hoe his sugar beets, !id not thin his crops, completely neglected his potato field, and failed to str'_p stubble. Janos Horvath purposely began his harvest late. He was sentenced to one year in prison. Mrs Thomas Som tried to turn in 2-year-old weevily wheat to the storehouse. She was sentenced to a year in prison. ATTEMPTS TO PASS WEEVILY GRAIN -- Budapest Friss U,jsag, 30 Jul 50 One farmer brought a 687-kilogram load of grain, and another farmer brought an unspecified quantity of grain to the cooperative storehouse, and both loads were discovered to be blighted and weevily. The condition of the crops was detected t...T.inated, before the rest of the grain in the 6LUL'6iiViioc was c^.,n .. A threshing-machine owner and a machinist's wife failed to record 19 quintals of grain in the threshing-record book. The Zalaegerszeg court sentenced each of them to 2 years' imprisonment for endangering the common welfare, and confiscated the machine. A farmer bought 100 kilograms of flour and 50 kilograms of salt and announced that he was getting ready for the privations of war.
