'.I.'lie EK Bitterfeld is one of the h Jree GDRL industries permitted to produce certain
nonferrous alloys; these alloys are used in products which may not be made with substitute
mater:I.als. The alltys produced at lsitterfeld include: Special brass, Solis 68, consisting
of 68 copper, the balance zinc and hardeners. Zinc bearing metal, consisting of 92
of 99 pure zinc, 5 copper, 2 % lead, and 1 % tin; this metal will support a compression
of 250 kg/cm2 . Zinc-aluminum-copper alloys for precision work; this alloy, said to be
enual to the best lead bronze, mmmth contains 53 % zinc, L15 % aluminum, and 2 copper.
Ilarde ied lead bearing, metal consisting of 98 ;% lead, 0.62 cadmium, 0.01 ' silicon, 0.02
aluminum, and small additions of sodium and calcium. The plant also produces lead bronzes
which contain no tin; these so-called binary- lead bronzes conin 75 `I copper and 25 %
lead.
