On 11 April, the bounds of moo sowing of spring graine had reached
a line rw ning approXitflato1Y through Vladimir-Volynek (rtoi'th-weetern Ukraine),
Chernigov, and Voronezh.
14 Apr
The Boil is approaching condition for working in Kirov Oblast. Sow-
ing of spring graine is in progreoe in 9aratov, Ohkalov, Penn, and Dryansk
oblaota, in the southern Uralc, southern Belorussia, the U3aine, and the
North Caucasus. In the southern and weatorn Ukraine, spring grains gown
early' are bushing, those sown later are sprouting.
Winter rye hac begun its growth in Kalinin, Yaroslavl', Kirov, and
averdlovak oblaste. Winter wheat has entered the tube stage in the south'-
western Ukraine, Crimea, and western areas of the North Caucasue, The con-
dition of the sowings ie good. Flowering of fruit treys has begun in the
northern Ukraine, Kursk and Voronezh oblasta, and the Lower Volga Region.
Field work has begun in southern Tyumen' and Omsk oblasts. In all
areas of the Central Asian republics, pit fruit trees have already finished
flowering while seed fruit tree are in full flower.

winter wheat is entering the tube stage, from Bel'tay (Moldavia), Kirovo-
grad, and Lozovaya that orchards are flowering. Plena and cherriee have
finished flowering in Rostov on the Don and Kheraon.
It is reported from Sretenak (Chita Oblast) that sowing of spring
wheat is beginning;

around Bobruyak and Mogilev. Pormttion of the third leaf of spring crops
is reported from southern Saratov and Voronezh oblasts and northern Khar -
kov and Poltava oblasts, Bushing of spring wheat has been observed in the
Dnepropetrovsk, Voroshilovgrad, and Chernovitsy areas.

has entered the i1oworin; stage in Krasnodar and Stavropol!krays and
Oroznyy Oblast. Winter rye is heading in southern Belorussia and the
southern central regions, Spring wheat has entered the tube stage in
most of the Ukraine and in the North Caucasus. Spring crops have sprouted
in moat of Siberia, have entered the three-loaf stage at some places.

It is reported from Moldavia (Bel i tsy) that sugar beets and corn are
being thinned. In southern Voronezh Oblast (Mitroanovka), poto.toea are
beginning to develop secondary shoots and weeding has begun. In the North
Cauoaaus (Maykop), potatoes are `lowering.
