MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Briefing on Angola
1. On 16 January 1986, staffers of the House Foreign
Affairs Committee, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and
the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence were briefed in
room S-406, Capitol Building. The subject of the briefing was
the general state of affairs in Ango 177 the outlook for the

insurgency struggle in that country.

political and military situation in Angola. A main point made
was that another major offensive can be expected this year
following the success of the government forces in the last
