CIA can respond partially to the request for information
contained in Mr. Kenneth R. Masons' letter to members of my
staff, dated 31 January 1985. We can provide some information on
the energy pricing policies of Canada, Mexico, and some OPEC
nations. We can also provide some information on the pricing
policy for steel and copper in Brazil and Chile, respectively.
In general, however, an initial data base search for information
on non-fuel minerals and metals has turned up little that would
be useful to the ITC. We will continue our research and forward
whatever we can by the 19 February deadline.
