In the general system of navigable waterways of this shipping line, lake
LADOGA occupies a special place. For many saw-mills and other factories
located on its shores, it is the only means of transport. Lighters and

barges arriving fran the i/HITE SEA - BALTIC Canal i/n STALIN and fran
Lake a EGA are towed to SVIRITSA, along lake LADOGA to PETROKREPOST,
and then by the NEVA to LENINGRAD. The despatch of cargo by the LADOGA
by-pass canal is becaning difficult owing to the insufficient depth and
