Temperatures at 0900 this morning were -5 degrees in Stalingrad, -4
in Kharkov and Rostov, -3 in Kiev, Vononezh, and Orel, -2 in Minsk and Smolensk,
-1 in Murmansk and Kuybyshev, zero in Saratov and Gor'kiy, 1 degree above zero
in Riga and Kirov, 2 degrees in Nar'yan-Mar, Syktyvkar, and Kazan', 4 in Lenin-
grad, 5 in Arkhangel'sk and Yalta, and 9 In Sochi.
Last night's lowest temperature in Moscow was 1 degree below zero; it
was 3 degrees above zero at noon today.(1)

This morning, slightly cloudy weather with light frosts prevailed in
the southern half of the European USSR. In the northern half, mostly cloudy
weather was observed. Rain fell in the Baltic countries. Snowfalls were re-
corded in eastern Arkhangelsk Oblast, Komi ASSR, and northern Molotov Oblast.
Last night's lowest temperature in Moscow was 3 degrees below zero; it
was 4 degrees above zero at noon today.(l)
Temperatures yesterday morning were -20 on Dikson Island, -8 in Ruaskaya
Gavan, -5 in Stalingrad, -4 in Rostov on the Don, -3 in Kiev, -2 in Minsk and
.Odessa, -1 in Moscow, Sverdlovsk, end Murmansk, zero in Gor'kiy and Saratov, 1
degree above zero in Samarkand, 2 degrees in Riga and Arkhangelsk, 5 in Sevas-

-3 in Kuybyshev, -2 in Murmansk and Nov-~'birsk, -1 in Moscow and Sverdlovsk,
1 degree above zero in Kiev and Roster on the Don, 2 degrees In Arkhangelsk, 4 in
Riga, Minsk, and Ashkhabad, 5 in Tallin, 9 in Yalta, and 12 in Sochi.

This morning, slightly cloudy, freezing weather prevailed in the northwest-
ern regions of the European USSR and western Arkhangel'sk Oblast. It was over-
cast in the rest of the European USSR. Rain fell in most of the Ukraine. Pre-
cipitation in the form of snow was recorded in the extreme mouth of the central
European USSR, Middle and Lower Volga regions, and in the eastern European USSR.
Temperatures at 0900 this morning were -14 in Vologda, -11 in Murmansk, -9
in Syktyvkar, -8 in Pet"zavodsk and Molotov, -5 in Leningrad and Saratov, -4 in
Arkhangel'sk and Ner'yan-Mar, -3 in Gor'kiy, -2 in Kuybyshev, zero in Stalingrad,
1 degree above zero in Orel, 2 degrees in Minsk, 3 in Lvov and Kharkov, 4 in
Kalinin, Kiev, and Astrakhan', 5 in Odessa, R in Rostov, 10 in Stavropol', 11 in

This morning, cold weather was observed on Kola Peninsula, in northern
Karelo-Finnish SSR, Arkhangelsk Oblast, and Komi ASSR. During the night, tem-
peratures dropped to 12-18 degrees below zero in these areas. It was warm and
dry in the Baltic countries and Belorussia. Comparatively warm weather with
local precipitation pre='ailed in the rest of the European USSR.
Temperatures dt 0900 this morning were -18 degrees in Nar'yan-Mar, -10

far northern European USSR. Snowfalls occurred locally in these areas.

the Middle Volga Region continued to spread southward. The colder weather was
accompanied by snowfalls. Warm weather with fog prevailed in the southern Ukraine,
Crimea, Lower Volga Region, and Transcaucasus.
