Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/10/22 : CIA-RDP1 OT01930R000500150006-3 Mr. John F. Stewart Acting Director John F.'Kennedy Library 380 Trapelo Road Waltham, Massachusetts 02154 In response to your inquiry of August 17, 1971 about the security classification on the material this Agency contributed to the John F. Kennedy Library I have coordinated with the officers concerned. Our previous instructions regarding the list of classified CIA documents reflected our concern that the list not be in- discriminately copied and circulated. As it still represents a problem to you at the CONFIDENTIAL level, we have reviewed the list again. We feel that if you can provide some control over the use of the list it can be safely declassified. Therefore, we suggest that you declassify the list and reproduce the following instructions on the first j.age2 This list may be reviewed by scholars under supervision of a JFK Librarian. The list will be stored with the Library's Classified collection and will not be reproduced or removed from the Library. If lou feel that your Staff can include and maintain this requirement in their procedures you may consider this letter as authority for the declassification of the list and proceed accordingly. As indicated in our previous instruction the documents themselves remain Classified, but we will review the documents individually for declassification upon request for a particular or specific research use.
