participation in a televised discussion about national
security. I can assure you that he considers it important for
these issues to be discussed in forums like your public affairs
program to ensure that people are informed, ideas are exchanged
and some understanding develops about very complex issues.
Mr. Gates regrets, however, that he will not be able to
accept your invitation.

television show that I host called John McCain's Senate Report.
Ten cable networks throughout Arizona air the program every
month.
The program, which lasts thirty minutes, includes my
introduction of the guest, followed by an informal question and
answer session. It is taped in the Hart Senate Office Building
the third week of every month.
